Green Bay Packers: Top 5 lessons learned in Week 1
5. No reason to harbor any regrets about Lacy
Sunday’s showdown with the Seahawks set up as a prime opportunity for Eddie Lacy to exert a measure of revenge against his old team that didn’t even give a second thought to re-signing the free agent in the offseason.
The Packers defense had other plans, however, as they didn’t afford the Alabama Slammer any creases to penetrate, as Lacy was held to 3 yards on 5 carries.
On one play, they forced the big power back to go away from what he does best and left him no choice but to go wide and wind up with no positive yardage.
Lacy apologists can defend the ball carrier’s struggles by calling attention to Seattle’s punchless and porous offensive line, but some exciting runs authored by rookie Chris Carson certainly pokes holes into that argument.
Don’t be surprised to see the more explosive Carson soon overtake lead back duties in the Emerald City.
