2. Damarious Randall is a grade-A bust

Much was made of Randall’s development in training camp, as he showed up fully healthy and was reportedly beginning to demonstrate the physical traits that convinced the Packers to make him a first-round pick in 2015.

Team decision makers on the coaching staff and in the front office have put a lot of time and effort into attempting to mold the converted college safety into a shutdown corner that can match up with the opposition’s best receiver.

Three seasons into Randall’s career, it’s become painfully obvious that No. 23 lacks the skills to be a quality defender in man-to-man coverage.

Add in his lack of physicality in run support and it is clear to see how the young man’s entire game is severely lacking.

Stefon Diggs, Marvin Jones and DeAndre Hopkins were just a few of the wideouts that exposed the Arizona State product last year.

Well, now you could add Julio Jones to that list, as the Falcons’ phenom wasted no time in torching Randall twice on the first drive in last night’s contest.

Jones’ acceleration into his crossing pattern and out route were too much for the shell-shocked defensive back on plays of 19 and 34 yards.

Based on his performance, Randall should have been long gone from Green Bay, but remains because of his first-round pedigree.

The recently-released Ladarius Gunter has outplayed the 25-year-old over the past two years, but finds himself an ex-Packer because the one-time Miami Hurricane, unlike his former colleague, was an undrafted free agent.
