Most would agree that third-year pro Brett Hundley should get a mulligan for an ineffective showing against the Vikings last Sunday given his paucity of practice reps leading up to the game.

The former 5-star recruit’s work in the preseason can probably offer fans a more accurate picture of his upside.

His performance versus the Broncos, in particular, was especially promising in that flashed the decision-making skills to go through his progressions, as well using pump fakes to freeze defenders.

But what will really help the one-time UCLA Bruin this time around is his ability to make plays with his legs.

Green Bay’s ravaged offensive line won’t allow Hundley much time to set his feet and stand tall in the pocket; he’ll need to use his speed on rollouts and naked bootlegs to beat opponents to the edge.

Two concerns that emerged during his preseason play, conversely, were a tendency to hold onto the ball too long along with his penchant for missing throws he should be completing with relative ease.

If Hundley uses his legs to move the chains and completes routine throws, he should be able to win games.
