The long list of injuries has affected the defense as well as the offense, including recent acquisition Ahmad Brooks, who is in danger of missing his second straight game with a stubborn back.

The former 49ers’ edge rusher fills a key role behind the starting duo of Clay Matthews and Nick Perry when healthy given the team’s lack of depth at outside linebacker.

Backing up Brooks are youngsters Chris Odom and Kyler Fackrell with the former being a work in progress and the latter continually losing battles at the line of scrimmage due to his lacking strength.

Help is on the way, however, in the form of Vince Biegel, who is already practicing with the team following a long recovery from a broken foot he sustained in the offseason.

The rookie defender may very well be activated this week and could provide a much-needed shot of adrenaline in a limited role until he knocks the rust off.

In his days as a Wisconsin Badger, Biegel consistently brought a high level of passion and intensity to the field. In addition, to possessing the athletic ability to bend the edge, the 245-pound linebacker is also technically sound as a pure tackler.

The fiery young buck can really be a sight for sore eyes once the coaching staff deems him ready to knock helmets with opposing blockers.
