Green Bay Packers: Top 5 moments of the 2017 season
4. Davante Adams’ walk-off touchdown to save the season
Davante Adams has made a number of huge plays this season, but few were as important as his walk-off touchdown to defeat the Browns in Week 14. It not only kept the Packers’ playoff dreams alive, but set up Aaron Rodgers’ return from injured reserve the following week.
Cleveland had multiple opportunities to close out the victory, but the moment Clay Matthews tipped a DeShone Kizer pass into the hands of Blake Martinez, the game was Green Bay’s.
Adams made sure of it. Catching a screen pass on third down, any additional yardage would have made Mason Crosby’s field goal attempt that much easier. But Adams had other ideas, spinning away from would-be tacklers to clear a path into the end zone.
It was a fine individual effort from Adams, and he didn’t even take time to celebrate. After scoring he just kept on running all the way down the tunnel and into the locker room.
Adams has 10 touchdowns in 14 games this season, but this was one of his most important. Had he been tackled short of the first-down marker, who knows what might have happened? Maybe Crosby would have missed the field goal attempt and handed possession back to Cleveland?
Adams took the game into his own hands, and made yet another outstanding play.
