Analysis of the Green Bay Packers’ decision to promote Brian Gutekunst to general manager dominates the Packers News Report.

Green Bay’s search for a new GM is over, with the report yesterday that Gutekunst was the chosen one.

And the decision has been met with positivity among fans and writers alike. Perhaps the fact Gutekunst drew interest from around the league shows just how highly regarded he is.

I posted a poll on the Lombardi Ave Twitter account on Sunday asking for a thumbs up or thumbs down.

I expected the majority to vote for a thumbs up, but it was far more one-sided than I imagined.

I personally think Mark Murphy has made a good choice. Gutekunst and Eliot Wolf were my top two candidates. Of course, nobody can say for sure how his tenure will turn out. But Murphy can’t predict the future, he can only pick the most qualified person for the job. Gutekunst ticks all of the boxes.
