Morgan Burnett: Re-sign

In previous years, Burnett is the type of player Green Bay would let go. He turns 29 this month, is entering his third contract and has a history of injuries. That’s the downside.

But for a team in win-now mode, his value to the defense is worth it. Burnett is one of the Packers’ most experienced players and isn’t easily replaced. He offers versatility and still has a ton of talent.

Mike Pettine needs experienced players he can trust on defense, and Burnett should be one of them. His versatility could be key in Pettine’s scheme. The experienced defensive back should be one of the top priorities for new general manager Brian Gutekunst.

Ahmad Brooks: Walk

When Brooks played he was solid. The Packers could consider re-signing him to a cheap contract, but they are likely better off looking elsewhere.

Brooks has been durable for most of his career, but injuries caught up with him in 2017, costing the 33-year-old four games. The two-time All-Pro turns 34 this offseason and is entering the final phase of his career.

Unless the Packers can re-sign him to a cheaper deal than he was on last year, they should move on.
