Who could the Green Bay Packers select in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft?

Ted Thompson was a difficult general manager to predict, but with Brian Gutekunst we are entering the unknown.

What will his approach be to free agency and the draft? Will Gutekunst be aggressive and be willing to trade the pick? Will he be conservative? Is Gutekunst more likely to draft for needs, or take the best player on his board regardless of position?

Time will tell. Draft analysts around the internet have taken their best guess, picking the player they feel is the best fit for Green Bay at No. 14.

Brad Weiss of FanSided: Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

Josh Jackson has become a popular name among Packers fans, and for good reason. The 6-foot-1 cornerback has the potential to become the No. 1 in Mike Pettine’s defense. Jackson could form an exciting combination with second-year Kevin King.

Erik Lambert of NFL Mocks: Connor Williams, OT, Texas

Grabbing a tackle first might not be the most popular decision, but it makes sense. Bryan Bulaga has struggled to stay healthy and is coming off a torn ACL. The Packers need to find a right tackle for the future.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com: Mike Hughes, CB, UCF

No edge rushers yet, but Daniel Jeremiah has the Packers upgrading the secondary in his first mock draft. Pettine has had a number of great cornerbacks to work with as a defensive coordinator in the past. Gutekunst has an opportunity to add a top corner at No. 14.

Jon Dove of With The First Pick: Connor Williams, OT, Texas

Williams’ name appears for the second time. Another note on the Packers’ tackle situation: Jason Spriggs has done little to suggest he’s ready to become a full-time starter. He, too, suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Timothy Rapp of Bleacher Report: Marcus Davenport, DE/OLB, UTSA

The Packers need to generate more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Clay Matthews and Nick Perry are good players, but the defense has lacked a game-changer for a while. Don’t be surprised if they grab a pass rusher at No. 14. It could be Marcus Davenport.

Connor Riley of SEC Country: Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

I love the idea of Jackson landing in Green Bay. Yes, the Packers need edge rushers, but they are also desperate for more cornerback talent. Jackson could be a great addition to Pettine’s defense.
