Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan

Maurice Hurst should be in consideration for the Packers at 14 and drafting him would immediately solidify the defensive line with three studs in Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark and Hurst.

Hurst was an all-star with the Wolverines, even winning the team’s MVP award.

The Packers need more firepower on their defensive line and I don’t believe Dean Lowry, Montravius Adams or any other defensive lineman on their roster besides Daniels and Clark could provide that.

Hurst could provide the spark that the Green Bay defense needs and Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com ranked him as the 21st best prospect in this year’s class.

Jeremiah even had this to say about him:

"“Overall, Hurst is an ideal 3-technique and could emerge as one of the best interior pass rushers in the league.”"

The last time the Packers picked in the first half of the first round they went with a defensive lineman from Texas in B.J. Raji.

Taking Hurst at No. 14 could have as big of an impact, if not greater on the Packers defense than the Raji pick did, and would make life easier for the other players in the front seven.

Green Bay has rarely picked in the top half of the draft during the Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers era and they must secure a difference maker at 14. Hurst could be that player.
