Harold Landry, OLB, Boston College

Note: According to Bleacher Report, Harold Landry won’t play in the Senior Bowl due to injury.

A top priority of the Packers this offseason has to be finding depth at the outside linebacker position due to a variety of concerns:

Clay Matthews should still have some juice left in him for the 2018 season but he isn’t getting any younger. Nick Perry is a great pass rusher when healthy but he has struggled to remain healthy recently.

Vince Biegel has some potential but I haven’t seen enough from him yet to have a solid opinion of him. Kyler Fackrell looks like a bust.

Ahmad Brooks would be a nice player for Green Bay to bring back but at his age there is always the chance for regression.

That is why the Packers will have to find depth or even a future starter at that position this offseason.

The Packers could bring in a veteran at the position but top pass rushers hardly ever hit the free agent market, and they already have a good combo with Perry and Matthews so a free agent signing at that position would likely be for depth only.

That is why the Packers will likely have to find a long-term answer at the position through the draft and Landry could be that.

Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball ranked Landry as the fourth best 3-4 outside linebacker in this year’s class and that would mean that he would likely be one of the top pass rushers on the board when Green Bay is on the clock at 14.

If Green Bay picked Landry at 14 they would have the luxury of having two premier pass rushers and a dominate rookie at the position as well.

Green Bay has spent the vast majority of their first round picks on defense in the past 10 years, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Landry was the pick at 14.
