4. Find more durable players

Anybody who has watched a Packers game during Mike McCarthy’s tenure knows that the Packers have had more problems with injuries than any other team in the league. While a large part of the problem is simply bad luck, the Packers have had far too many injuries on both sides of the ball to consider this a problem that will eventually fix itself.

The Packers finished the NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons with a defensive tackle playing right guard after four of their five active guards left the game. This past season, the team entered their rematch with the Falcons in Week 2 without their top five tackles. That’s right, the Packers’ top five offensive tackles were inactive for the game. Some teams don’t even have five on their entire depth chart.

Aaron Rodgers, Nick Collins, Jermichael Finley, Ryan Grant, Mark Tauscher, Morgan Burnett, Clay Matthews, Bryan Bulaga, Jordy Nelson, B.J. Raji, Sam Shields, Eddie Lacy, and Nick Barnett are only some of the names that have suffered season-ending injuries during Mike McCarthy’s time in Green Bay.

New general manager Brian Gutekunst must find more durable athletes from the college ranks that the team can count on being on the field for an entire season.
