Packers: Quarterback options on Day 2 of the 2018 NFL Draft
Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
I could see a team like New England taking Rudolph at the back of the first round but if he falls to Green Bay he should be considered.
Rudolph is accurate and has a beautiful deep ball. This could be of great service to him playing in the cold weather in Green Bay.
Of course it didn’t hurt him playing in the Big 12 which plays the worst defense out of all of the power five conferences or the fact that he had receivers like James Washington to throw to but he should still be considered one of the best quarterbacks in this year’s class.
Rudolph also played in a spread offense which will make his transition to the NFL slightly harder, but similar to the situation with Lamar Jackson he will have time to learn Mike McCarthy’s offense without being pressured to start.
I will be interested to see what happens to Rudolph’s draft stock in the coming months as he could solidify himself as a first-round pick, but he could also raise concerns about his college offense and fall to the third round.
If Rudolph is available when Green Bay is on the clock he would likely be one of the best quarterbacks available at that spot. If Green Bay wants to pull the trigger on a quarterback early he could very well be the pick.
