After watching Super Bowl LII and seeing the Eagles dethrone the Patriots, it’s safe to assume you now know who Trey Burton is.

The fourth-year tight end didn’t catch a single pass in the biggest game of the year. But right before the half, on fourth-and-goal at the Patriots’ 1-yard line, he threw his first NFL pass to Nick Foles for a touchdown.

No, the Packers are not interested in his throwing abilities, but they should be intrigued with his tight end skill-set.

Although being behind Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz and sometimes veteran Brent Celek, Burton caught 23 passes for 248 yards and a career-high five touchdowns last season.

Burton’s best performance came in a road victory against the LA Rams, where he hauled in five catches for 71 yards and two scores.

The Packers have not had consistent production from a tight end since Jermichael Finley and Burton can provide that. He has only missed three games in four seasons, he is athletic and has great hands, all attributes that Rodgers would love his tight end to possess.

According to Spotrac, his calculated market value is $7 million a year. At 24 years old, he will be affordable and has yet to reach his full potential. Playing with a quarterback like Rodgers will expedite that process.
