Packers free agency: Three wide receivers they should target
2. Jordan Matthews, Buffalo Bills
Jordan Matthews had his worst season of his career since entering the league in 2014.
Matthews, who was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, was traded to the Buffalo Bills before the season in exchange for corner Ronald Darby.
In three years in Philadelphia, Matthews caught 225 yards for 2,673 yards and 19 touchdowns. With the addition of Alshon Jeffery and the emergence of Nelson Agholor, Matthews became expendable.
This past season Matthews only caught 25 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown, in 10 regular season games.
The Bills placed Matthews on injured reserve with a knee injury. He underwent knee surgery and ankle surgery in December. Earlier in the season, Matthews needed surgery on his thumb.
Despite an injury-plagued 2017, Spotrac estimates Matthews’ market value at $8.8 million a season. He should be a bargain buy for any team looking for a number two wide receiver.
Matthews is a young, versatile playmaker that can play in the slot and outside.
His knack for scoring in the red zone makes him very valuable. Out of 20 career touchdown grabs, 15 have been in the red zone.
At 6-foot-3, Matthews would be another big target for Rodgers to look for inside the 20-yard line.
