Green Bay Packers: Top 10 draft picks under Ted Thompson
7. Greg Jennings, WR
Greg Jennings’ departure from Green Bay was far from ideal, but there’s no denying the importance he had in the Packers’ offense during his seven-year stay in Packers News.
Jennings, another example of Thompson’s excellent second-round strike rate at the wide receiver position, caught 425 passes for 6,537 yards and 53 touchdowns as a member of the Packers.
Jennings went to the Pro Bowl twice, in 2010 and 2011, and was a key piece in the Packers’ Super Bowl run. It was arguably his finest season in Green Bay. That year he caught 125 passes for 1,265 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added another 303 yards in the postseason and a pair of Super Bowl touchdowns.
His production unsurprisingly dipped after leaving the Aaron Rodgers-led Packers, but he still had a couple of solid seasons with the Vikings.
Jennings tallied 1,546 yards and 10 touchdowns during his two years in Minnesota, before finishing his career in 2015 at Miami. That year he caught just 19 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown.
Jennings was not only a major piece in Green Bay’s offense en route to a Super Bowl victory, but also in the 15-1 team that came a year later. Jennings made a number of huge plays with Rodgers, and is one of Thompson’s finest draft selections.
