8. Sign a veteran quarterback

If Aaron Rodgers’ injury taught us one thing, it’s that Brett Hundley isn’t ready to guide the Packers to success in Rodgers’ absence. While the third-year backup quarterback helped the team win three games, he was far too inconsistent. Outside of good performances at Chicago and Pittsburgh, Hundley struggled.

The best option for the Packers moving forward is to sign a veteran quarterback. The Eagles and Vikings did exactly that with Nick Foles and Case Keenum, and the Patriots also took the same approach with Brian Hoyer.

An experienced passer like Hoyer would hardly guarantee you consistent play or a ton of victories, but they could provide a short-term answer if Rodgers had to miss a few games.

Keenum is set to hit free agency, but his strong performances in 2017 will likely earn him a lucrative deal, whether that’s in Minnesota or elsewhere. But if the Vikings were to re-sign Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater or Sam Bradford could become available. All three quarterbacks are set to hit free agency.

Josh McCown and Ryan Fitzpatrick are also free agents this spring. McCown might cost too much for the Packers after a solid season with the Jets, but Fitzpatrick could be a more affordable option. Both have plenty of starting experience in the league.
