6. Packers have young talent on defense

The Packers have plenty of work to do on defense this spring, but a positive is that they already have some young talent on the roster.

Kenny Clark and Blake Martinez are two names that immediately come to mind — both players have Pro Bowl potential.

Clark made a big second-year jump, building on an excellent run of form dating back to the 2016 playoffs. The Packers’ first-round draft choice in 2016 has already become one of the team’s best players on that side of the ball, and made it onto Pro Football Focus’ Top 101 Players of 2017 list, finishing at No. 69.

"“As a rookie, Kenny Clark flashed ability, particularly late in the year and into the playoffs where he began to really show the kind of player he could be. In Year 2, he really broke out, playing significantly more snaps and earning strong grades as both a run-defender and pass-rusher.”"

Martinez stepped up in his second season, also. The linebacker made 144 tackles, which tied him Buffalo’s Preston Brown and Cleveland’s Joe Schobert for most in the league.

The Packers have young talent on the defensive side of the ball, and this should excite new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
