Packers: Biggest questions at each position group on the roster
What are the biggest questions facing the Green Bay Packers at each position on the roster?
It’s already been some offseason for the Green Bay Packers.
And it all started with Anthony Barr’s hit on Aaron Rodgers. If Rodgers hadn’t got hurt, would there have really been so many changes in Green Bay? Would Brian Gutekunst have replaced Ted Thompson as general manager? Would Mike McCarthy have made such big changes to his staff?
Despite the excitement in January, the offseason is only just beginning. The Packers have a number of questions to answer in the coming months, and how they do so will determine whether they are ready to make a serious Super Bowl push in 2018.
Gutekunst is tasked with giving Mike Pettine enough defensive talent to steer the ship in the right direction. He also has tough decisions to make in free agency, such as whether or not to re-sign Morgan Burnett, Jahri Evans and Davon House. Will he need to free up cap room by restructuring current deals or releasing players?
How will Gutekunst approach free agency and the draft? How close will his style resemble that of his predecessor? Gutekunst has certainly said all of the right things so far, but the real test begins at the start of the new league year in mid-March.
The Packers are expected to have 12 draft picks this year, including four compensatory selections, which will ensure they have plenty of opportunities to fix some of their biggest needs.
Let’s take a closer look at the Packers’ roster ahead of free agency. What are the biggest questions at each position?
