Shaquem Griffin, LB, UCF

The first thing that stands out about Griffin is the fact that he is missing his left hand. A rare condition he had before birth caused the removal of his hand when “Keem” was just four years old.

Griffin doesn’t let that phase him, however. He plays with as much (if not more) tenacity and emotion than anyone else on the field.

Griffin is an outstanding athlete. At the NFL combine, he ran the fastest 40-yard dash by a linebacker since 2003. He was also able to bench 20 reps with a prosthetic hand. That not only shows his strength, but his work ethic too.

He also has great ball skills, which could see a possible transition to safety for Griffin. For the Packers, he would be much better off using his stout pass rush skills, which is a major need on defense.

He would be an immediate improvement to another area of need on the defense, that being the pass rush.

The addition of Muhammad Wilkerson makes this need not as great as the secondary, but adding depth doesn’t hurt at all. Griffin could be the successor to Clay Matthews when his time comes to retire or move on from the Green Bay Packers.
