Three safeties still available in free agency that the Green Bay Packers should consider.

A wild couple of weeks in free agency has since settled down. However, there are some great options still available for the Green Bay Packers, especially for the secondary.

As of now, the safety situation for the Packers is as follows: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at free safety and a combination of Josh Jones and Kentrell Brice.

The latter, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, could compete for the starting strong safety role in 2018.

Relying on young, inexperienced talent has been the issue for the Packers under former defensive coordinator Dom Capers. As it currently stands, it sounds like relying on young talent may be the way to go once again.

You get the feeling that new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is excited to utilize Jones. While Jones is in store for a big season, bringing in a veteran presence for the young players would be very beneficial.

The Packers could really use safety help. Bringing in a safety could allow the front office to focus on drafting a cornerback or edge rusher in the first round of the draft.

There is a lot of young talent out there. More importantly, it’s young talent with experience.
