Staying at #14

If Gutekunst stays put at 14 and all of the “Top 6” are off the board, he will likely decide between the highest rated pass rusher and the top remaining corners. Essentially the choice comes down to Harold Landry, a talented edge rusher out of Boston College, Marcus Davenport the physical phenom from UTSA and ball-hawking corner Josh Jackson from Iowa.

Davenport is dynamic and has great size at 6-foot-6, 270 pounds. He has the potential to be the best edge rusher out of the class. Unfortunately his tape doesn’t jump off the screen with athleticism and his level of competition makes him a quintessential boom or bust prospect.

MOCK DRAFT: Packers trade up in latest two-round mock

Jackson put up great numbers but only has 14 games under his belt. His tapes show that while explosive with great hands, he is raw and his combine didn’t wow.

Plus there are a lot of cornerbacks that fit Pettine’s physical profile (big, fast, long arms to jam at the line of scrimmage) to be had in later rounds. Isaiah Oliverwith great speed and length, gets my vote but there are plenty of other choices such as Carlton Davis, Tarvarus McFadden and Quenton Meeks to name a few.
