Packers schedule: Five toughest opponents in 2018
3. Packers @ Rams: Week 8
Unlike the Falcons or the Seahawks, it has been a while since the Packers and Los Angeles Rams have squared off. In fact, the last time these two teams met, the Rams still called the city of St. Louis home.
That sunny October afternoon in Green Bay saw the Packers’ defense step up for once in a 24-10 win. The Packers have dominated the Rams in recent history. You have to go back to 2006 to see the last time the Rams beat the Packers.
Times have changed though. The Rams are a much better team, even since the last matchup in 2015. Jared Goff is easily becoming a top quarterback in the league. Todd Gurley is one of the best running backs in the NFL right now. And don’t even get me started on the Rams defense.
The Rams went “all in” this offseason when they acquired Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Ndamukong Suh and Sam Shields. It’s a story that reminds me of the Denver Broncos a couple years ago. This team wants to win NOW. The front office isn’t worried about dollar signs at the moment.
It will be interesting to see how things play out in Los Angeles. The LA crowd has been notoriously bad because their team was bad. Now that they have something to cheer for, everyone will be there for the Rams vs. Packers.
Between trying to stop the Rams offense and trying to get past the Rams defense, it will be a huge challenge for the Packers to escape with a win. Anything is possible when Aaron Rodgers is your quarterback though.
