Overview: There was quite a bit of disagreement among the four writers on how to order the top-five linebackers in the class, reflecting how deep this group is at the top.

While two writers viewed Roquan Smith as the top linebacker in the class, the other two writers ranked Tremaine Edmunds ahead of Smith.

Even where to place Leighton Vander Esch wasn’t consistent. Two writers placed him fourth behind Smith, Edmunds, and Rashaan Evans. One writer had him third, while another one ranked him second, even ahead of Edmunds.

Evans was somewhere in the top-five for all four writers, but then opinions varied greatly on Malik Jefferson. He was either ranked as high as the fourth linebacker in the class or as low as seventh.

The only other linebacker mentioned in each writer’s top-10 was Josey Jewell, ranking anywhere from sixth to 10th. He seems like a solid day two prospect.

Fred Warner, Jerome Baker, Shaquem Griffin, and Micah Kiser were each mentioned by three of the four writers.

Linebackers Oren Burks, Darius Leonard, Genard Avery, and Shaun Dion Hamilton were each only mentioned once by a writer as a top-10 talent.
