2018 NFL Draft: Packers upgrade secondary in two-round mock draft
17. LA Chargers: Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
The Chargers need to find a left tackle to keep Philip Rivers healthy for the next few seasons, and luckily for them they stumble upon two top tackle prospects in Mike McGlinchey and Connor Williams.
18. Seattle Seahawks: Connor Williams, OT, Texas
Russell Wilson needs more help there. The Seahawks have a good but aging left tackle with Duane Brown, and I don’t see Germain Ifedi as the answer at right tackle. The Seahawks could use someone like Connor Williams as either the heir apparent to Brown or a replacement for Ifedi.
19. Dallas Cowboys: Harold Landry, EDGE, Boston College
The Cowboys could easily target someone like Courtland Sutton here or even Calvin Ridley if he falls, but they really need to find an edge rusher to get to the quarterback. Especially since they are in a division with Carson Wentz, Eli Manning, and Alex Smith.
Marcus Davenport would be someone that they could consider to address their need, but I think Landry is a safer pick who could be an immediate impact player in Dallas.
20. Detroit Lions: Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State
Leighton Vander Esch is one of the most underrated players in this year’s class. The Lions should seriously consider Vander Esch if he is available for them as he would be able to help Matt Patricia’s defense in both run support and in coverage if they drafted him.
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas
I would be shocked if Cincinnati didn’t go with an offensive lineman of some sort here. Their offensive line hasn’t really been the same the last few years.
Someone like Mike McGlinchey or Connor Williams could be in play here, but I expect both of them to go in the top 20. Luckily for Cincinnati there are still a lot of high quality offensive linemen available.
One is Frank Ragnow. He excels in run blocking and would be an excellent player for them to bring in to help their young running back corps.
22. Buffalo Bills: Joshua Jackson, CB, Iowa
Josh Jackson is a versatile cornerback who can play in both the slot and outside. He also is the best man coverage defensive back in this class after Denzel Ward and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
The Bills would now have one of the best young cornerback tandems in the league with Joshua Jackson and Tre’Davious White.
23. New England Patriots: Marcus Davenport, EDGE, UTSA
The Patriots would take Lamar Jackson in a heartbeat if he fell to them here, but I don’t think they will be able to land him unless they trade up.
The Patriots need to find a quarterback of the future, but they also need some talent to improve their pass rush and Davenport would be a good option here.
He is very athletic, but he also played at a small school and I would be a little concerned about that if I were drafting him. I think he is the defensive version of Josh Allen as he has a flashy skill set but is a boom-or-bust player.
24. Carolina Panthers: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU
The Carolina Panthers are in bad need of a true number one receiver as they have one of the worst receiving corps in football.
The Panthers tried to take a big physical receiver to help Cam Newton in 2014 with Kelvin Benjamin, but unfortunately he didn’t really work out for them. I could see them going in a similar direction this year with Courtland Sutton, who is a tall and bulky receiver who should be able to get jump balls down field.
