Running backs (5)

Running backs: Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Ty Montgomery, Devante Mays

Fullbacks: Aaron Ripkowski

The Packers’ running back room remains unchanged.

Second-year backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams will lead the way this season, although it remains to be seen how Mike McCarthy will distribute the carries. The two combined for 1,004 rushing yards and eight touchdowns last year at a healthy 4.3 yards per carry.

The key for both is to stay healthy. Both young backs missed time through injury in 2017, and will need to prove they can handle the heavy NFL workload.

Don’t forget about Ty Montgomery. The receiver-turned-running back has proven his talent in the backfield, although it’s likely he takes on more of a hybrid role this year. There’s no doubting he makes the offense better, and given his ability to line up just about anywhere on offense, McCarthy can get creative.

Devante Mays is the fourth back on the depth chart. He’ll need to regain McCarthy’s trust this summer after fumble issues last year.

Aaron Ripkowski doesn’t seen the field all that often on offense, but he still adds value as the fullback.

The Packers are in good shape at running back. Brian Gutekunst clearly agrees, as he didn’t use any of his draft picks to add another back to the roster.
