Green Bay Packers game-by-game predictions for 2018 season
Pre-training camp game-by-game predictions for the Green Bay Packers in 2018.
The Green Bay Packers‘ 2017 season was over just as it was beginning. During their Week 6 clash with the Vikings, quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone.
The 2017 record of 7-9 was the team’s first losing season since Rodgers took over for Brett Favre in 2008. It proved that the Packers needed a makeover.
The conclusion of the season put the Packers at a crossroads. General manager Ted Thompson stepped down into a senior advisory role, while defensive coordinator Dom Capers was let go. Shortly after, the Packers promoted Brian Gutekunst to general manager.
Gutekunst didn’t take long to make a splash. He used free agency to sign defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson along with tight end Jimmy Graham. Something his predecessor rarely did.
He wanted to create internal competition at every position. In his first draft, he used his first two picks on the secondary, while drafting three wide receivers.
Overall, the Packers’ offseason bucked the trend the predecessor had formed. Gutekunst created buzz around the Packers. According to Bleacher Report, the Packers were the most improved team following the 2018 NFL Draft.
Let’s take a game-by-game look at the Packers’ 2018 season.
