Green Bay Packers game-by-game predictions for 2018 season
Week 1: vs. Chicago Bears
The 2018 season starts against division rival Chicago Bears. The Packers are opening their 100th season at home during primetime.
The Packers are leading the rivalry with a record of 96-94-6, after winning the last four contests. Since Rodgers took over, the Packers are 17-4 with one win during the postseason.
The Week 1 meeting won’t be the first time these teams competed in 2018. Wide receiver Allen Robinson said he chose to sign with the Bears over the Packers. Brian Gutekunst signed Bears restricted free agent CB Kyle Fuller to an offer sheet, although the Bears were quick to match the offer.
Aside from Robinson, the Bears signed tight end Trey Burton and wide receiver Taylor Gabriel. They also added linebacker Roquan Smith with the number eight pick during the draft.
General manager Ryan Pace’s number one goal was to get quarterback Mitchell Trubisky weapons, trying to make the second-year leap easier for their young passer.
Both teams needed the addition if they wanted to keep pace with the Vikings.
Even though this game will be closer than fans will want it to be, the Packers will win. Rodgers will come out hungry and the primetime matchup will be overwhelming for Trubisky.
Prediction: Packers 24, Bears 20 (1-0)
