2. Can Jones improve as a receiver?

Ty Montgomery is far and away the Packers’ best receiving back, which is hardly a surprise as he made the transition from wide receiver two years ago. Jamaal Williams showed he can catch passes too — he finished 2017 with 262 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Jones, however, had just nine catches for 22 yards. Nine of those yards came on one catch. If Jones can improve this area of his game, he could become a complete three-down back in Green Bay. If not, opportunities on third down will likely go to Montgomery and Williams.

Improving in pass protection will also help Jones earn more third-down snaps in 2018.

While Eddie Lacy was never known for his receiving ability, he became a good option on screen passes. In 2014, Lacy rushed for 1,139 yards and nine touchdowns, but also added 427 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Jones made a number of big plays last season. He can break out a huge run at any point. If the second-year back can become a more efficient receiver, he will have sky-high potential in Green Bay’s offense.

In his final year at UTEP, Jones caught 28 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns.

Can Jones improve as a receiver? That will be something to watch at training camp.
