Safeties (5)

(46) Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

(47) Josh Jones

(48) Kentrell Brice

(49) Marwin Evans

(50) Jermaine Whitehead

As the Packers spent none of their 11 draft picks on a safety, while also not acquiring any free agent safeties, it is apparent they have a group they believe in, especially considering that Derwin James was sitting there at pick 14. The Packers decided not to draft him and instead traded down.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has had his ups and downs, but 2018 has to be his biggest year yet and he must lead by example in the defensive backfield. Going into a contract year, this is a make or break season for HHCD.

Josh Jones, while listed as a safety, will most likely be spending most of his time in more of a linebacker role. He played plenty up closer to the line of scrimmage last year, and that’s where he seemed to look most comfortable and make the biggest impact.

In 2018, Kentrell Brice and Marwin Evans must hold their own and make plays. Pettine likes to use more than two safeties in many formations, so I can only assume that Brice and Evans will both get their fair share of opportunities. Brice has shown to be a very heavy hitter, while Evans has shown flashes that he could be a good player with more consistency.
