Special teams (3)

(51) Mason Crosby, K

(52) J.K. Scott, P

(53) Hunter Bradley, LS

The special teams’ room has had about as much drama surrounding it as it ever has. While Mason Crosby remains a reliable staple at the kicker position, there was a shakeup among other special teams players.

I’m going to assume that very few people, if any at all, thought going into the 2018 draft that the Packers would select a punter AND a longsnapper, but that is exactly what happened.

In the fifth round, the Packers took J.K. Scott, a punter from Alabama. This came as quite a surprise, as Justin Vogel set the franchise record for net punting average in his rookie season. Shortly after the draft, Vogel supposedly asked to be released and was granted the release.

There is what seems to be a revolving door at punter for the Packers, and in my opinion, I thought the punter situation was settled for the foreseeable future, as Vogel showed to a talented, young punter. Here’s to hoping Scott steps in and becomes a real field switcher at the punter position.

Hunter Bradley, a long snapper out of Mississippi St. (yes, a long snapper) was selected in the seventh round of the draft, subsequently creating a long snapper battle to watch between Bradley and Zach Triner.
