Defensive line (5)

(26) Mike Daniels

(27) Kenny Clark

(28) Muhammad Wilkerson

(29) Dean Lowry

(30) Montravius Adams

The defensive line is certainly the strongest position group on the defense, and possibly the entire team. The starting three-man front of Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark, and Muhammad Wilkerson is among the top in the league.

New defensive coordinator, Mike Pettine, has talked about his philosophy of how important an interior pass rush is in causing havoc on the offense and how that havoc leads to quarterback mistakes. With such a strong interior pass rush, the hope is that it helps all other facets of the defense, most importantly the outside pass rush and in the defensive backfield.

Dean Lowry is about as good of a rotational player coming off the bench as you can ask for. Lowry has shown he is worthy of starting and can certainly impact games. Montravius Adams missed time with an injury in his rookie season last year, but has plenty of potential to be an effective rotational piece along the defensive line.

There is a definite chance for this position group to include one more player, even with how deep the defensive line already is. Seventh-round pick James Looney will be battling with UDFAs Tyler Lancaster (Northwestern) and Conor Sheehy (Wisconsin), as well as the recent free agent pickup Joey Mbu.
