Round 1: Ha Ha Clinton Dix, S, Alabama

If the Green Bay Packers didn’t go defense with their first-round pick, it would have definitively been a questionable move. The team needed help up top, especially since they hadn’t been able to find a true free safety since Nick Collins.

There were two safety targets going into the 2014 NFL Draft for the Packers, Calvin Pryor, and the aforementioned Clinton-Dix. The Packers were able to land Clinton-Dix.

Since then, Clinton-Dix has been a consistent piece to an ever-changing Packers secondary. He has missed exactly zero games since he was brought onto the team in 2014. Being able to be out there week in and week out is huge.

The secondary is obviously the weakest group, in terms of production, on the team. Clinton-Dix has provided stability at the free safety position for four seasons now.

His production on the field has been amazing too. Despite many claiming the former Alabama star had a “down season” in 2017, the stats clearly say otherwise. Compared to his 2016 Pro Bowl season, Ha Ha recorded two fewer interceptions, one less pass defense, and recorded the exact same amount of tackles in 2017.

He’s always been out there making an impact in any way he can. That’s why he was brought on to the team. He will be a huge piece to a secondary on the rise. If he can continue putting up numbers like he has, Clinton-Dix will for sure be a top-five safety in the NFL.
