Packers: Justin McCray’s bright future predicted in interior line rankings
Future Five
Pat Elflein (Minnesota Vikings): Elflein has Pro Bowl potential if he continues to progress and build on his rookie year. He played well for the Vikings last year, particularly run blocking, and that was when he was blocking for Latavius Murray. Just imagine how he will be in 2018 blocking for Dalvin Cook.
Frank Ragnow (Detroit Lions): Bob Quinn has done a great job rebuilding the Lions offensive line during his tenure. Ragnow will be another example of this. He was one of the better offensive linemen in the SEC last year, despite having a lack of talent around him compared to the top SEC programs.
Don’t underestimate the fact that he will be playing with great veteran linemen such as T.J. Lang and Rick Wagner.
Billy Price (Cincinnati Bengals): The Bengals offensive line has been terrible recently, but the additions of Price and Cordy Glenn will help fix that. Price will bring intelligence and stability to a Bengals line that is desperate for players like him. There were some medical concerns with him headed into the draft, but it looks like those concerns are behind him.
Will Hernandez (New York Giants): Hernandez was one of my favorite players in the 2018 draft class. His arrival immediately benefits both Eli Manning and fellow rookie Saquon Barkley. His ability as a run blocker is special, and he has a retro-style way of playing the guard position. He should have been a first-round pick.
Justin McCray (Green Bay Packers): McCray has a solid shot of winning the competition at the right guard position in Green Bay this year, but I think he has a chance to do much more than that. McCray did a great job blocking when he got the chance in his first season with the Packers.
I think he will only improve in 2018. He will be more acclimated with the offense this season, and he likely won’t have to worry about being a backup. McCray could become one of the more underrated signings of Ted Thompson‘s tenure.
