Cornerbacks: C-

It’s clear the Packers’ biggest focus this offseason was to get better at cornerback. Brian Gutekunst went to work quickly, surprisingly trading away the team’s best corner, Damarious Randall, to the Cleveland Browns.

But his plans soon made sense. The Packers brought back Tramon Williams, who spent eight years in Green Bay, and is coming off an excellent season with the Arizona Cardinals. They also re-signed Davon House for depth, and used their top two draft picks on the highly-rated duo of Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson.

But for now, it’s tough to make an assessment of the new-look secondary. The Packers will be hoping second-year Kevin King is fully healthy after a lingering shoulder injury ended his rookie season early. If he can avoid injury and make a second-year jump, the team will be in good shape at cornerback.

Despite the moves the team has made, the position still has a number of question marks.

Until we see how this group works in Mike Pettine’s scheme, they get a C- grade. But there’s no doubting the potential the young corners on the roster have, and it will be no surprise if the Packers’ secondary takes a giant step in the right direction this year.
