10. Telvin Smith (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Smith had a very impressive season last year. He works well with Myles Jack and I believe that these two make up the best linebacking tandem in the game. Smith is one of the best linebackers when it comes to run support in the game.

9. Anthony Barr (Minnesota Vikings)

More from Lombardi Ave

Barr is very good in coverage, and he is one of the best players on one of the game’s top defenses. I think his numbers will improve this season.

8. Lavonte David (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

David is versatile, and he is one of the embodiments of today’s NFL. It’s incredible that he is the player he is despite the fact that he is stuck in one of the league’s most mediocre defenses. Hopefully, the addition of Vita Vea changes that.

7. Sean Lee (Dallas Cowboys)

Lee certainly holds the Cowboys defense together, but I am concerned about his durability and age. I doubt he will be the player he once was, but Lee will still perform at a Pro Bowl level, even if he is just 90 percent of his former self.

6. C.J. Mosley (Baltimore Ravens)

Mosley has done a good job filling the void that Ray Lewis’ retirement left. You can never replace a guy like Lewis, but Mosley has excelled in his spot. He is by far the best player on the Ravens defense.
