NFL power rankings 2018: Packers in top 10 as training camp begins
8. Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers’ return makes the Packers playoff contenders, but their defense will determine whether they are Super Bowl challengers. The addition of defensive coordinator Mike Pettine will help, as will rookie corners Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson. If the defense can hold its own, the Packers will be serious contenders in the NFC.

7. Atlanta Falcons
One defense to watch is Atlanta’s. Dan Quinn should be applauded for his work over the past few years. The Falcons are fast and athletic on both sides of the ball. We know all about their stars on offense like Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman, but their talented young defense could lead them back to the Super Bowl.
6. Jacksonville Jaguars
No defense is talented as Jacksonville’s, however. The Jaguars have all the tools to go one step further than last year’s AFC Championship Game appearance.
5. New Orleans Saints
Drew Brees re-signed for another two years, but his championship window won’t be open for much longer. But this team is good enough to win now, as New Orleans has one of the most balanced rosters in the NFL. With Brees, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas, the Saints’ offense might be the best in football, and its defense is strong too. The NFC is loaded with talent this year, but the Saints look set for another very good season.
