Soak it all in

Whether you are going just for practice or for one of the many other attractions, soak it all in. Training camp is a fun setting, and the Packers provide such a unique experience. Before or after practice, watch the players take part in a time-honored tradition of riding bikes.

The sight of a very large man trying to ride a bike made for a six-year-old child is amusing. There are also fans that go all-out, get creative and bring a two-seater or a rickshaw. Watching a fan get picked by a player to use their bike is a heart-warming scene.

The players are also very generous with their time after practice. They will stop to sign autographs for a few minutes before hitting the showers. The best way to get one is to wait at the bike drop-off back by the player entrance at Lambeau field. The entrance is directly across the street from the Don Hutson Center, and will be blocked off by security gates. After the players have biked back from practice, they will stop at the barricades and sign as many as they can, so have your material ready.

The Packers also have an autograph area specifically designed for children 12 and under in the Don Hutson Center. Just look for the Future Lambeau Leapers signs. The players will usually spend 20-30 minutes inside signing for the kids.

Stop by the statues of Curly Lambeau and Vince Lombardi for a few pics. See a two-story replica of the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Do the Lambeau Leap in to the iron arms of the fans just outside the pro shop. While you’re there, grab some new Packers gear.

Most importantly, just enjoy it all.

The Packers have such a rich and storied history most teams can only dream of. So while around Lambeau Field, embrace the culture of Packers News and get involved in a few loud chants of “GO PACK GO”.

When I go, I like to end my day at the local bar appropriately named Stadium View. It’s at the end of Armed Forces Drive, a block down from Ray Nitschke Field. From there you have the perfect view of the Oneida Nations entrance to Lambeau Field.

It’s a western-facing view so when the sun sets, it sets directly behind the stadium and you can get a beautiful picture of the Packers Palace. I’ll order one of the many wonderful local Wisconsin beers, sit back enjoy the ambiance and smile about a day well spent.
