The Green Bay Packers come in at No. 8 in the latest NFL Spin Zone power rankings.

Dan Parzych of NFL Spin Zone put together his latest NFL power rankings with training camp getting underway, and he has the Green Bay Packers in the eighth spot.

A number of recent power rankings has Green Bay around this spot. It’s about right. With Aaron Rodgers, the best quarterback in football, the team deserves to be in the top 10. But right now it’s easy to name seven or eight teams who should be higher than the Pack.

Green Bay didn’t make the playoffs last season. Of course, a big reason for that was Rodgers’ broken collarbone, which forced him out of action for over half the season. But the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t make that excuse when they lost their quarterback, who was playing at an MVP level.

If the Packers get off to a fast start this season, and the defense shows significant improvements, they will quickly fly up power rankings and be considered a serious contender for the Super Bowl.

Here is what Parzych wrote about the Packers in his power rankings:

"“Since the Vikings are considered one of the early Super Bowl favorites, the Packers will have quite the work cut out for them when it comes to competing for the division title. But knowing Rodgers, the quarterback seems ready to do whatever it takes to be a headache for the defending NFC North champions.”"

The NFC North could be one of the toughest divisions in the league this season.

If the Chicago Bears improve like many expect them to, they could be a team to watch in the wild-card race. Don’t forget about the Detroit Lions either. The Lions have nine wins in each of the past two seasons, and have a top-10 quarterback in Matthew Stafford.

The Minnesota Vikings might have spent big to sign Kirk Cousins, and the Bears may have traded up to the second pick last year to draft Mitch Trubisky, but it’s the Lions who have the division’s top quarterback not named Aaron Rodgers.

As for the Vikings, we all know how good they are. The defending division champions will enter as favorites in the NFC North, and should once again be among the top teams competing for a championship.
