Divisional round

AFC: Chargers (2) def. Jaguars (3)

AFC: Patriots (1) def. Steelers (4)

NFC: Packers (2) def. Vikings (5)

NFC: Saints (1) def. Falcons (6)

A matchup between the Chargers and Jaguars could be a lot of fun to watch. Even though they’re at home, the Chargers could enter this game as slight underdogs. But I see Los Angeles winning a close one. The Chargers have a talented, up-and-coming defense, and an offense talented enough to give the Jaguars’ dominant unit some problems. Just a week after beating the Texans, the Jags would have to make a cross-country trip, and the Chargers take the win.

In the second game, it’s another victory in the divisional round for the Patriots. It’s the same old story each year. At home, it’s hard to pick against them. With this win, New England moves on to the AFC title game for the eighth year in a row. Eight in a row.

Over in the NFC, the Packers win an entertaining divisional showdown with the Vikings. These two teams are tough to separate. The Vikings have the stronger overall roster, but the Packers have Aaron Rodgers. I have to give the edge to the team playing at home. As it’s at Lambeau Field in January, the Packers advance.

Another divisional matchup takes place in New Orleans, and it’s the Saints who win this one. The Falcons have a great roster, but the Saints are well balanced, and playing at home, get the win.
