Conference Championships

AFC: Patriots (1) def. Chargers (2)

NFC: Packers (2) def. Saints (1)

Last year, the conference championships featured Tom Brady, Case Keenum, Nick Foles and Blake Bortles. This season it’s a stronger lineup with Brady, Philip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.

In the AFC, you can predict who advances to the final. Brady has played in eight Super Bowls. Here’s a little fact for you: the Patriots have only lost in the AFC Championship Game at home once. And they’ve been to about a million of them in the past two decades.

The Baltimore Ravens pulled off the upset victory on the road in the title game back in 2012, but I don’t see the Chargers doing the same here, no matter how talented their roster is.

But the road team does win in the NFC. The Packers have lost their previous two NFC Championship Game contests, both away from Lambeau, but not this time. Despite all of the Saints’ strengths, the Packers win a high-scoring contest inside the Superdome.

Of all the potential NFC Championship Game matchups we could see this year, I don’t think one would be as fun as this. Two great offenses led by future Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks? Sounds good to me.

And there would be some fun storylines to watch. Rodgers versus Brees. How about the battle of the top two wide receivers, Davante Adams and Michael Thomas?

The best of all? Jimmy Graham returns to the Superdome and scores the game-winning touchdown to send the Packers into the Super Bowl.
