NFC East

1. Giants (10-6)

2. Eagles (10-6)

3. Cowboys (8-8)

4. Redskins (6-10)

Here’s a bold prediction: the New York Giants will win the NFC East. Here’s another: the Super Bowl-defending Philadelphia Eagles will miss out on the playoffs.

The Giants have made some smart offseason moves. The addition of Saquon Barkley could completely transform their offense. They boast some of the best skill position players in the league with Barkley, Odell Beckham, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram. Barkley gives them balance. If this group can stay healthy, the Giants can be a playoff team once again.

Philadelphia won’t be far behind. In this prediction it’s the Giants’ superior division record (5-1 over 4-2) that puts them first in the NFC East. The Eagles have an excellent roster, and with Carson Wentz back they will be tough to beat.

The Dallas Cowboys are a tough team to predict. Ezekiel Elliott‘s suspension hurt them last year. With him back, can the Cowboys bounce back and return to the playoffs? I don’t see it happening.

Washington has a talented roster, and I like the addition of Alex Smith. But the Redskins find themselves in a tough division, and they fall short of the playoffs.

The NFC East will feature just one playoff team this year, with the Eagles just missing out on a wild-card berth. The reason? Losing the head-to-head tiebreaker in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.
