Packers 53-man roster predictions after first week of training camp
Defensive line (5)
Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark, Muhammad Wilkerson, Dean Lowry, Montravius Adams
Considering how strong Green Bay’s defensive line is, it’s entirely possible they only keep five linemen on the final 53-man roster.
Here we have the most exciting part of the Packers’ defense. The trio of Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark and free agent signing Muhammad Wilkerson make up potentially one of the league’s top defensive lines.
Daniels got hurt during Monday’s practice, but thankfully his injury doesn’t appear to be serious. According to Chris Roth of WBAY in Green Bay, Daniels isn’t concerned:
A lot of focus has been placed on the Packers’ lack of depth at outside linebacker, which is certainly a concern, but the team could get more pressure on quarterbacks from the defensive line. Brandon Carwile of Dairyland Express believes Montravius Adams, who was injured for most of his rookie season, could play an important role in Green Bay’s pass rush.
Mike Pettine appears to be adjusting to the strengths on the Packers’ defense. According to Zach Kruse of Packers Wire, Pettine is making interior pass rush a priority.
Green Bay has more than enough talent along the defensive line to make that happen.
It’s possible the Packers keep more than five defensive linemen, but the group of Daniels, Clark, Wilkerson, Dean Lowry and Adams has the potential to be very, very good.
