Predicting the Green Bay Packers’ final 53-man roster ahead of the team’s second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The second week of preseason is here. The Green Bay Packers will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field this Thursday night. It’s another opportunity for players on the roster bubble to strengthen their case for a spot on the final 53-man roster.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said on Tuesday that the plan is for Aaron Rodgers to play on Thursday night. If he does, it’ll likely only be for a series or two before the backups come on.

The same won’t be the case for Pittsburgh. According to Curt Popejoy of Steelers Wire, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown won’t play against the Packers on Thursday. It would have been a great test for Green Bay’s young secondary to play against Brown, even if just for a series.

The Packers will have to make a number of difficult decisions in the coming weeks when trimming the roster down to 53 players. There is a lot of competition for places, particularly at wide receiver.

A lot can change in a week. Strong performances in the second preseason game could increase, or decrease, a player’s chance of making the roster.

So, who will make the Packers’ final 53-man roster? Here’s my latest predictions ahead of the second preseason game.
