Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is No. 1 in the latest FanSided rankings.

Fixing the defense was an offseason priority for the Green Bay Packers, but making the playoffs this year has a lot more to do with the return of two-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers’ superstar quarterback immediately makes this team Super Bowl contenders. He’s the biggest difference maker in the NFL.

FanSided recently ranked all 32 starting quarterbacks ahead of the new season, and as you can probably guess, Rodgers is top of the list.

Rucker Haringey of FanSided has Rodgers just ahead of Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Here’s what he wrote about Rodgers:

"“There’s not a more complete quarterback in the NFL than Rodgers. His ability to do everything at an exceptional level makes him the best player in the league at his position. Other guys may do one thing better than Rodgers does, but no one does everything at his elite level.”"

And that’s exactly what makes Rodgers so tough to defend. He’s as accurate as any quarterback in the league, even when on the move. He can take off and run when he needs to, and he is also one of the very best at escaping sacks.

Brady may continue to dominate into his 40s, and there’s no doubting his talent and success, but he isn’t the all-round quarterback Rodgers is at this stage of his career.

So, what does this mean for the Packers?

Well, they have the league’s top quarterback, and he’s still in his prime at 34 years old. They’ve already won a Super Bowl with Rodgers, but it’s been eight seasons since their last trip to the big game.

The Packers were unfortunate last year. Had it not been for Rodgers’ injury, they almost certainly would have made the playoffs and would have had a great chance to win a championship.

Now that he’s healthy, they have another opportunity.
