4. Packers running backs

Jamaal Williams may have the official slot as the number one running back for the Packers, but the spot hasn’t been written in ink. Green Bay is still searching for a new player to step up to the task of being the dominant half-back to battle for yards.

Williams has shown a glimpse of his capability to perform that task. He’s patient finding his gap, knows how to block for his QB, and can fight for extra yards while securing the football. Those attributes are what landed Williams with the rookie of the year award held by the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame induction ceremony on July 26.

Unfortunately, Williams suffered an ankle sprain injury while playing against the Steelers in the second week of the preseason. The injury is minor, which gives a silver lining to see what the other running backs have in store for the preseason.

New faces such as LeShun Daniels and Bronson Hill have joined the Packers squad this week, making it much more challenging to secure a role at the running back position. It will be important for all the tailbacks to get as many reps in as possible this week to make a lasting impression.
