Five players to watch for the Green Bay Packers in their regular season opener against the Chicago Bears.

Preseason is over. The roster is set. For now. The attention can finally turn to the regular season, and first up are the Chicago Bears. What better way to kick off the 100th season of play for the Green Bay Packers than against their long-time rivals?

The Week 1 matchup just got a little more interesting with the trade Chicago made for Khalil Mack. Mack is a top-tier player as an edge rusher being added to an already talented Bears defense led by coordinator Vic Fangio.

Fangio has a good track record versus Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers-led offenses as it is, now adding Mack to the mix will make this game that much more difficult for the Packers. How much Mack actually plays will be the question.

On offense, the Bears are still a puzzle that needs figuring out. Mitch Trubisky is only in his second year and we have still yet to see what he can do. Matt Nagy is taking over as head coach from an outdated John Fox, which has led some to believe Trubisky could have a second-year turnaround similar to Jared Goff.

Adding Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel will add more punch to the Bears’ offense. Draft pick Anthony Miller has been the talk of training camp (before the Mack trade that is) and looks like a solid pick by the Bears.

This isn’t the same Bears team we have seen over the past few seasons. This game will be much tougher than it seemed a few weeks ago.

With that in mind, here are five players to watch.
