Packers fantasy preview Week 1: Start, sit advice vs. Bears
Which Green Bay Packers players should you start, sit in fantasy Week 1 against the Chicago Bears?
The Green Bay Packers kick off their 2018 season on Sunday night. But the return of football also means difficult fantasy decisions await.
Which Packers should you start and sit against the Bears this week?
Normally, games played on Sunday night can make lineup decisions difficult due to injury concerns. Fortunately, none of the Packers’ offensive players were on the injury report this week.
Start
Aaron Rodgers: In his past three games against the Bears, Rodgers has thrown for a combined 757 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. Even against an improved Bears defense, you didn’t draft Rodgers early to not start him. At home, Rodgers is a great start in Week 1.
Jamaal Williams: With Aaron Jones suspended, Williams gets the start at running back. The Packers are favorites at home, and if they’re up late in the game, they could lean on the ground game. The Bears’ defense is strong up front, but Williams should get the volume and could find the end zone.
Davante Adams: Now the Packers’ number one receiver, Adams should be considered a WR1 all season. He will be Rodgers’ go-to target, and we know they have a great connection in the red zone. Adams has 22 touchdowns over the past two seasons, including four against the Bears.
Jimmy Graham: Without Jordy Nelson, Rodgers has a new red zone target in Graham. They didn’t play many snaps together during preseason, but Graham still caught a touchdown from Rodgers. Start Graham this week.
Sit
Ty Montgomery: How the Packers distribute the carries at running back remains to be seen, but with Williams likely to lead the way, Montgomery is a risky play. His ability as a pass catcher makes him a safer option in PPR.
Randall Cobb: For Green Bay’s pass catchers not named Davante Adams or Jimmy Graham, it’s best to wait and see how involved they are on offense before starting them in fantasy. We’ll get a better idea of Cobb’s role this week.
Geronimo Allison: See above.
Packers D/ST: Despite adding plenty of talent on defense this offseason, the Bears have got stronger on offense. While it’s possible Green Bay’s young secondary comes away with an interception, there should be better streaming options available on the waiver wire.
