Green Bay Packers beat Chicago Bears: Week 1 recap
In a game fans will never forget, the Green Bay Packers came back and upset the confident Chicago Bears.
In an absolute shocker of a game, the Packers were able to make an unbelievable comeback against Chicago. This is one of those games that Packers fans will never forget.
A game that represents so much about the Packers organization. That being a Packer is about never giving up no matter the odds. Even if it means sacrificing everything as Rodgers showed tonight.
Coming into this game the Packers were favorites to defeat the Bears. Most people saw this game being a walk in the park, a slow, boring game, or even a back and forth game. But no one could have guessed what was to come.
It was a tough start for the defense, as the Bears offense cut through the secondary. The offense struggled, and the team just didn’t look right. The Packers looked like they weren’t prepared. Like they never woke up that morning.
Then something unexpected and terrible happened. Aaron Rodgers went down with what appeared to be a leg injury. The worst possible scenario that could happen, had happened.
Going into halftime with a 17-0 lead, the Bears had a confident attitude. We even heard some Go Bears Go chants. After dismantling DeShone kizer, and Khalil Mack scoring a TD, it looked pretty grim for the Green Bay Packers.
But eventually something interesting went down. Something exciting. Hope was once again alive for Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers was coming back to play. There was a chance after all.
Rodgers threw a bomb to Geronimo Alison to cut into Chicago’s lead. This is what they needed in the first half. The Packers defense was able to get a stop. Where was this team?
Then Rodgers found Davante Adams for a touchdown. This is where the game started to move into the Packers’ corner. Green Bay’s defense was once again able to make another game-changing stop.
Then, Rodgers found Randall Cobb for an explosive play. A play that gave Green Bay the lead over Chicago with very little time left. Lambeau was on fire. The energy was off the charts.
Green Bay was able to make another important stop on a crucial fourth down, but Clay Matthews committed the biggest foul, a roughing the passer penalty in such an important moment. But the Packers defense stepped up again, playing at a level we haven’t seen from them in some time.
Nick Perry made an unbelievable play to give the Packers the ball back, ending the game. Green Bay could run out the clock and win the game in one of the most shocking football games we’ve ever seen.
This game set the tone for the rest of the season. Can Green Bay make this the season the one where they go back to the big game? Time will tell. But there is one thing for sure: Packers fans are going to enjoy this one for a very long time.
