Packers: Three takeaways from Week 2 tie with Vikings
Three takeaways from the Green Bay Packers’ tie with the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.
For the second time in the past six meetings between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field, the game has finished in a tie.
And an Aaron Rodgers‘ injury was a key storyline in both.
Five years ago, the Packers fought back from 23-7 to send the game to overtime. Both teams scored field goals with the game finishing 26-26. It was only a tie, but it kept the Packers’ season alive. They would win the NFC North with an 8-7-1 record over the 8-8 Chicago Bears.
Matt Flynn threw for 218 yards and a touchdown that afternoon to help the Packers tie the game.
Rodgers didn’t miss the game this time, but he was limited due to a knee injury.
In a game the Packers will feel like they should have held on to win, they ended up relieved just to get a tie following Daniel Carson’s missed 35-yard field goal attempt. But it’s a result neither team wanted, as they both had great chances to win.
In 2013, a tie helped the Packers make the playoffs. It could have another big impact on the NFC North standings late in December.
But before then, let’s focus on the game. What are the top three takeaways from the tie?
