The Green Bay Packers remain undefeated, but had to settle for a tie in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.

On one hand, the Packers can be pleased.

Daniel Carson’s missed 35-yard field goal attempt as time expired ensured the Packers didn’t lose. But they probably should have secured the victory before then.

Mason Crosby, too, missed an opportunity to get the win at the end of regulation. He converted all five of his field goal attempts prior to his 52-yard miss which sent the game to overtime.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will also be frustrated with a controversial roughing the passer penalty on Clay Matthews which wiped out what would have been a game-winning interception.

Here’s the good news: Aaron Rodgers played well, despite being limited with his knee injury. He completed 30 of 42 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown.

The Packers will feel like this was a game of missed opportunities, however. They had to settle for field goals on four second-half drives. Had they found the end zone on just one of those possessions, it could have been enough to get the win.

So how does this tie impact the NFC North?

Of the two teams, the Vikings will have to be most satisfied. They were the road team. They also fought back from 23-14 down in the fourth quarter.

But this wasn’t a bad result for the Packers, either. Rodgers showed he can play well despite not being able to scramble and extend plays.

The defense put together a strong game. And the young secondary stepped up yet again.

Second-round pick Josh Jackson recovered a blocked punt to score a touchdown. First-rounder Jaire Alexander made a crucial sack with Reggie Gilbert on third down the play before.

The Packers move to 1-0-1 and remain undefeated. This was a game they couldn’t afford to lose.

But also one they will be disappointed not to win. Given the missed opportunities in the second half, they really should have.
